Shalom Baranes | Washington, DC Business & Headshot Photographer

Good Thursday afternoon to you :)

I hope the week has been treating you well! This week I took headshots for one of my favorite architecture firms to work with (to be shared in another post coming soon ;) and it reminded me that I never posted these images from another firm I had the privilege of working with recently!

In late 2014 and early 2015 I worked with Shalom Baranes Associates to take photos for their site redesign! Shalom Baranes is one of the top architecture firms in DC and in 2013, was the most active architectural firm in the DC metro with 67 active projects! So to say I was excited was an understatement :) I worked with Julie in Marketing to arrange photographing headshots of leadership and environmental portraits of their collaborative office environment.

I really appreciated that they wanted the photos shot in such a way that hierarchy wasn’t evident- so no one person would look more important than another. I enjoy doing corporate headshots because I’m able to put people at ease and have them see that taking photos doesn’t have to be an unpleasant experience :)

Here are a few of my favorite headshots & environmental portraits and you can check out the full leadership page here!

Hear from Julie on their DFinney Photography experience:

“Danielle was a pleasure to work with and put everyone at ease. Our session included both environmental portraits and head shots for our new website. The final product was just what we were looking for! Danielle was also very willing to accommodate us in any way, which can often be challenging when you are dealing with 20+ schedules.”

Thank you so much Julie! I really enjoyed working with everyone at Shalom Baranes and look forward to working with you guys again :)

If you’re interested in having photos taken for your business and would like to have the DFinney Experience yourself, email me and schedule your session today!

Charlotte 101 Group Session [July 24] | Charlotte, NC Photography Instructor

Happy Monday loves! And a beautiful one it is! The rain has FINALLY departed! It was a tough last few days with SO.MUCH rain! It just made everything feel like a hassle. But onto a beautiful new week :)

I’m kicking it off with a brand new Mentor Monday! Today I have a super fun recap from my time in Charlotte this summer! The day I arrived, I linked up with my mentee Ebony who I worked with earlier this year in February! She wanted to shoot little ol me! I was so honored and nervous, but excited as well :)

I also got to meet and work with Monique who did a wonderful job on my makeup! This experience deserves its own post but I wanted to do a quick mention since it happened while I was here lol.

On to the mentoring! The session was an unexpectedly intimate one as it ended up just being two attendees as the 3rd had something come up. It was so awesome! I forget how much I enjoy the smaller sessions :)

Latoya & Sierra drove up from SC and we had a great day together! Our model was super sweet, India our makeup artist was amazing, the airbnb where I stayed was perfect, and the weather was beautiful! Our model Zakiyah is actually Lisa’s daughter! One of my mentees from last year’s Charlotte session :)

Check out the photos from our practice lifestyle session!

Hear from Sierra on her experience:

“I absolutely fell in love with Danielle’s artistry. I was attracted to the colors, style, softness of her images. I just knew that I had to work with her. When I saw she mentored, I had to make the investment! Danielle is very positive person and easy to be around. I immediately felt welcomed upon meeting her so I was comfortable. The mentor session was very helpful and I learned a lot of techniques that I wasn’t aware of.”

Sierra even made this super cool vlog recap of her experience!

Thank you sooo much Sierra! I had such a great time with these ladies and look forward to seeing their work progress in the months and years to come :)

Samia | One-on-One Mentor Session [July 1] | Richmond, VA Photography Instructor

Happy Mentor Monday! It’s a rare evening post today, but it’s still Monday sooo it still counts lol. This week I’ll actually have some photo sessions to share and the Fall Mini Special will be posted Wednesday as well!

This evening I’ll be sharing a super fun one-on-one session I had in Richmond this past July with Samia! My session with Samia was the last of a back-to-back-to-back schedule of mentor sessions in Philly, DC, and then Richmond so when I tell you I was tired… I was TIRED! But Samia is such a gem and made it all worth it.

We found that we have so much in common and I really enjoyed working with her and encouraging her. Totally made me forget about how pooped I was lol. We had a great time and created some beautiful images, both of herself and of our gorgeous family who traveled all the way from Columbia, MD to be our model family!

So let’s check out the photos shall we :) First up, Samia’s headshots! Who said she wasn’t comfortable in front of the camera but I’m soo happy she trusted me and let go! You see how beautiful she is?

Next up? The beautiful Flateau family! It was actually their baby girl’s first birthday and she was ALL smiles :)

Sophia | One-on-One Mentor Session [June 29] | Washington, DC Photography Instructor

Happy Mentor Monday!

I’m not sure about you but I’m really enjoying these Mentor Monday posts :) It gives me a sense of accountability to ensure that no matter how busy things get, there is at least ONE guaranteed post each week!

This past weekend was a busy but very enjoyable one- more mentoring! Lol I can’t wait to blog about my two-day one-on-one session with Ayasha in the coming weeks, but for now the quick sneak peek (linked above) will have to suffice :)

Today though? I actually do have a one-on-one recap from my session this past June with Sophia! She scheduled a one-on-one session here in DC while she in town visiting family and we had a great day together!

Sophia requested a small family for her practice session and Shannon and her boys were just wonderful! Her boys are FULL of energy and these photos certainly provide the proof lol.

Next on the agenda? Sophia’s headshots! I absolutely love photographing photographers. We aren’t initially the most comfortable in front of the camera but getting them to loosen up is one of my favorite challenges :)
